MAHINERANGI DAM
PLANT FOB CONSTRUCTION The following tenders for various items of plant required for the construction works at Mahinerangi Dam are recommended by the E.P. and L. Committee to the City Council for acceptance : (a) For 401 b rails, fish plates, etc.— Messrs John Chambers and Son, Ltd., for second-hand rails, fish plates, and bolts, for immediate delivery in good condition, subject to the tenderer being prepared to supply up to fifty tons of rails if necessary, with fish plates and bolts. (b) For twelve steel side dump tramway trucks of 2yds capacity for 2ft 6in gauge track.—Messrs Cossens and Black, delivery to commence four weeks after date of acceptance, and to he completed within six weeks after date of acceptance. (c) For rope and rope sockets and clamps.—The New Zealand Electrical Equipment Company, Dunedin, for ropes manufactured by the Whitecross Company—viz.,_ (1) Twe lengths of half-locked aerial ropes, each 725 ft in length between end sockets, with ends of ropes fitted with sockets, plus two spare end sockets. (2) 15,000 ft of 6/19 steel rope 2in circumference, with one gross rope clamps. (3) 1,500 ft 6/19 specially proved patent steel rope 2fin circumgerence, with quarter - gross clamps. The tenders received for compressor and pneumatic tools have not yet been finally dealt with. A report on these will be sent to the council at the very earliest possible date.
