CHILEAN DESTROYERS

RUGBY, January 2G. The new motor boat destroyer S* - rnno. which is named after one of the naval heroes of the country, was launched yesterday by Madame Huneeus, wife of the Chilean Minister to Great Britain, at the Woolston works of Messrs Thornycroft. _ The Serrano ig the first ofsix oceangoing destroyers, five of which are at present in various stages of construction. The contract for them was started in May, 1927, and its value is about £31,750,000. Practically every shipbuilding country competed for the order. The destroyers have a length of 30ft and a displacement of about 430 tons.
