DROWNED AT WHARF. WHANGAREI, January 26. X worker at the Portland Cement Works named Giles was drowned yesterday afternoon. He was assisting in loading a boat at the whari, and fell into the water and was never seen again. The police received the news at 8 o’clock in the evening, and Constables Clemence and Baesley, or Whangarei, look steps to recover the body. ■ FRACTURED LEFT LEG. A lix-year-old child, William Crawshaw, residing with his parents at 27 Harbor terrace, was taken to the hospital last night with a fracture to the left leg, caused • through falling from a swing at Logan Park.
