OTAGO EXECUTIVE MEETING A meeting of the executive of the Otago Centre of the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union was hold in the Y.M.C.A. last evening, the president (Mr G. Bruce) being in the chair. The Knrow Athletic Club applied for affiliation to the Otago Centre, and asked permission to hold a sports meeting on March 23.—1 t was decided to grant affiliation and to permit the holding of the sports. Messrs 11. B. Meek and J. M‘Leod were appointed to represent the centre at the meeting. Permission was granted the Maheno Club to hold a meeting on April 7, and to the Enfield Club to hold a meeting on April 9, Messrs A. N. Gilmonr and J. Matheson being appointed to attend the former meetfng, while Messrs J. Matheson and G. Bruce were appointed the union’s representatives at the latter. . . It was stated that the Waikouaiti Caledonian Society had asked to include several amateur events in the annual sports programme, to be held on Monday, April 9.—The Secretary reported that there was a resolution on the nnion’s books to the effect that no amateur events could bo included on any programme. He explained why this resolution was passed.— lho matter was then fully discussed, and finally it was moved and seconded that the Waikouaiti Club’s application to place amateur events on the programme be de-clined.—-The motion was carried. It was further decided to grant the (Waikouaiti Club permission to hold a sports meeting on April 9, but to point out to the executive that it would be in the club’s own interest to select a more suitable date another year.
