EX-NAVAL MIGRANTS EARL BEATTY’S SCHEME. * press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, January 25. ' The Overseas Settlement Committee has enlisted the cooperation of the Ministry of Labor for Earl Beatty for the promotion of a migration scheme embracing ex-naval ratings who have ■completed twelve years’ service. Their average age is thirty-five. A vocational training establishment is already in existence at 'Portsmouth, where handy men are turned out, and it is now proposed to ' supplement this with land training. . The migration authorities advocate village communities in the dominions, In which both the handy men and the trainees would settle cq-opera-tjyijly. It is claimed that their physical fitness and their adaptability are superior to that of other migrants. ... The naval authorities point out the desirability of locating the naval men where they would be able to complete their reservist training and qualify for the gratuity of £IOO when forty, in addition to the marriage allowance.
