SPORTING

FORBURY TROTS THIS WEEK Local sportsmen arc not likely to forget the races of the Forbury Trotting Club on Friday and Saturday of this week, and as the meeting is attracting attention, in the neighboring provinces, enticing men and horses from Canterbury and Southland to compete with the Otago horses, there is sure to be a great attendance. For that reason, and for the further reason that the fields will be of good size, and the quality of the horses engaged is undoubtedly up to the mark, the Forbury Club is apparently likely to have a satisfactory meeting. The weather forecasts are encouraging. It will take a storm of rain to spoil the course, and no such visitation is expected.
