Riordan (Canterbury) 12min, L. Pithie (Otago) 15min, A. Hepburn (Wellington! 154 min, W. G. Morpeth (Wellington) 28min, Miss L. Copplestone (Canterbury) 29-}inin, HEARD’S WITHDRAWAL. It is most unfortunate for Canterbury that E. C. Heard, holder of the New Zealand 220yds men’s breaststroke title and the fresh-water record of 3min 4 4-ssec, will not be able to contest the final of the 220yds New Zealand men’s national breast-stroke championship to-night. Heard, who has not been in the best ol health for some time past, has been advised by the doctor to withdraw from competitive swimming in the meantime, and, accordingly, he will not compete further during the championships.
