DUNEDIN UNION The Following is the position of the teams at the end of the first round: A SECTION.
FRANCE V. HEW ZEALAND The matches against France, which are to bo held on Wednesday and Thursday next at the Miramar tennis grounds. Wellington, are attracting great attention. The grounds belong to tho Wellington Lawn Tennis Association, and when tho scheme is completed about seventy odd courts will bo available for play. Hard courts as well as grass courts are being provided. The New Zealanders selected to play against the Frenchmen should give a good account of themselves; both Ollivier and Bartleot being capable of making Borotra or Bruguon bring nil their ( best shots into action. Knott and Sturt, tho two Auckland colts who have been chosen to play against Borotra and Brngnon in tho doubles, won. the New Zealand doubles championship last year.
