SAMOAN DEPORTEES
ISO SERIOUS DEMONSTRATION [Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, January 16. Tho Hon. Downie Stewart, Minister of Finance, advises that tho Administrator of Samoa reported by radiofrom Apia on January 13 as follows;—“Nelson and Smyth lelt by the Tofua. to-day. Parties of the Mau natives came irom Savaii the previous day and made a demonstration in Apia. Tho loyal natives asked the Aclministiator to bo allowed to assist in case of trouble, but were requested to remain at their villages. A small number of natives were on the wharf when Nelson and Smyth loft, and there was no demonstration. “In Nelson’s farewell address to the Man natives on the wharf ho said: ’Rely on me; .1 am going to win a victory lor Samoa. 1 ask yon to stick to tho Man. Stick to it; stick to it. “ A Samoan orator replied; ‘ We will try to carry out your wishes, keep tho peace, and carry on the Man lor ever.’ ”
