DOMINIONS SECRETARY AT N£W PLYMOUTH [l’r-R United Pkbss Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, November 24. Mr Amery and his party arrived at New Plymouth this afternoon, travelling overland from Te Kuiti ami halting briefly at Waitara. At New Plymouth, despite tho unfavorable weather, the visitors were given a warm reception by a large crowd. Mr and Mrs Amery spent a busy afternoon after the reception. The visitors were the guests of the Tourist and Expansion League, and were motored to the beauty spots and points of interest ah ml the town. Receptions by the Victoria League avid tho Legion of Frontiersmen followed. Tho' Opera House this evening was packed for the civic reception. Mr Amery spoke on the need for Empire cooperation, and discussed immigration problems, urging upon the dominion the desirability of keeping young New Zealanders on the land. Despite the fact that Mdunt Egmont was shrouded in misty rain, Mr Amery left for the North Egmont Hostel at 10 o’clock to-night. Ho intends to start climbing shortly after _ daylight, and hopes to reach the summit, though the indications are to-night that he, as a keen mountaineer, will be disappointed, for there appears little chance that the clouds will lift sufficiently to allow of a clear view. To-morrow Mr Amery will join tho remainder of his party on a special train at Inglewood, en route to Wanganui, where he is due at 3 p.m.
