The Canterbury .lockoy Club’s meeting was concluded to-day. The weather was fine, but overcast, and the trams good. Tho attendance was large. Results :—■ SUBURBAN HANDICAP, 2oosovs, 9f. HOW THEY RAH Stae’b ' Radio Sehvice.j For the concluding day of the Canterbury Jockey Club’s Spring Meeting the weather was dull and oyercasl, and an easterly wind was blowing. About 11.30 a heavy shower fell and ram later on was threatened. The track was not affected by the rain, which took tho sting out of it. THORNDALE WINS EASILY Beaumont and Joy Bird were the scratchings for tho Suburban Handicap, in which tho competitors were ridden by steeplechase and hurdle jockeys. Tho starters, riders, and barrier positions were:—Rowley (Hobson) 5, Red Fuchsia (A. M’Donaid) 2, fihorndale (Humphris)' 13, The Harp (Marshall) 12, Gold Mint (Tilson) 7, Projector (Shaw) 10, Goosestep (A. E. Ellis) 4, Dubious (O’Connor) 9, Cornstalk (E. Mackie) 2, Happy Queen (Riven) I, Grand National (Baker) 14, Wreath of Myrtle (Bush) 3, Green Cloth (Salt) 8, and No Response (Campbell) 11. Rowley was made a red-hot favorite, with tho bracket Red Fuchsia and Grand National second choice, and Gold Mint third favorite. From a good start, Red Fuchsia hopped out smartly and Rowley and Gold Mint were the two slowest to begin. Racing along tho back, Wreath of Myrtle took the load from Red Fuchsia, and Cornstalk then joined the loader at the turn, where tho field was bunched. Cornstalk and Wreath of Myrtle were still in front round the bend, bub Thorndale jbinedthem and, (roing nicely, was in front at the lalse rail. Rowley then ran up to Thorndale, and Goosestep made a strong run. However, Thorndale was never off the bit and won easily from the favorite, with Goosestep third. Time, Imin 54sec. WON ALL THE WAL After the defection of Solferite, Taboo. Sir Boy, and Lausanne, a field of 13 was left in the Cressy Handicap, the starters, riders, and barrier draws be-

ing:—Beaumont (13. H. Morris) 10, Receipt (F. Voigbt) 2, Rascal (1. Waddell) 1. Moorland (L. G. Morris) 5. Vcrtigern (J. Barry) 7, Nincompoop (R. J. Mackie) 9, Black Duke (Coughland) 4, Monaghan (Tito) 3, Gold Brick (L. J. Ellis) 11. Dismantle (D. Kerr) 8, Arpent (J. Potter) 13, Royal Saxon (C. Eastwood) 12, Konmoro (S. Wilson) 6. Beaumont wa? made a pronounced favorite, with Black Duke and Dismantle next best backed. Dismantle, Arpent, and Konmoro were slow in jumping out, and Gold Brick hit the front from Rascal and Receipt. The order was unchanged as they turned for home, the favorite being tucked in the rails. Beaumont commenced to make a forward move, and lie gained a little on the leaders. Inside the distance Gold Brick was still loading, but Monaghan cams fast on the outer, and Nincompoop rushed through to challenge Gold Brick. Beaumont had no opportunity of reaching the front division. Gold Brick won by two lengths after being in front all the way, while Nincompoop was ahead away second and Monaghan third, a nose in front of Rascal. Time, Imin 26 26 3-f)sec—• a good gallop. SILVER RULE'S FINISH Twelve two-year-olds went to the post for the Pioneer Handicap, for which there were no scratchiugs. The starters were:—Silver Rule (A. M'Cormac) 9, Goblin Market (R. Reed) 10, Flicker (Tito) 6, High Disdain (J. Barry) 3, Chide (C. Emerson) 13, Concentrate (S. Wilson) 1, Amourette (A. M’Seveny) 7, Full Feather (W. Brown) 4, Island Fastness (Humphries) 2, Banket (J. Potter) 11, To Atiawa (Goldsboro) 12, Louis© (L. J. Ellis) 5, Rigmarole (Honshaw) 8, Silver Rule, Chide, High Disdain,Concentrate, and the bracket, Flicker and Louise, were backed in that order. High Disdain _ left the barrier smartly, and was in front on reaching the course proper, followed, two lengths away, by Silver Rule and Goblin Market. High Disdain appeared to bo going nicely, hut at the distance Silver Rule caught the leader and went on to win easily by a length from High Disdain, after a short ncck-and-neck battle. Goblin Market, two lengths away, just heat Flicker for third place. Time, 60 2-ssec. SPRINTERS PROVIDE THRILL Solferite was the only scratching for the Members’ Handicap, and the competitors, jockeys, and barrier positions were:—Civility (R. Reed) 8, Shirley (F. Waddell) 9, Centrepiece (F. E. .Tones) 10, Comic Song (F. Yoight) 7, .Paperchase (A. E. Ellis) 2, Booster (A. Didham) 3, Lausanne (Goldsboro) 4, Wingatui (L. J. Ellis) 5, Joy Bird (J. S. Potter) 6. Paper Boy (T. Metcalf) 11, Wayward (Henshaw) 1. Paperchase, Centrepiece, and Lausanne were the best backed. Booster showed the way out to Paperchase and Centrepiece. Then Shirley went to tho front, and was followed by Centrepiece, and Paper Boy joined them. Paperchase and Civility were next in the running. The three first horses were running neck and neck. Centrepiece soon had Shirley beaten, and then Booster commenced his run. It was a grat race down the straight. Centrepiece looked all over a winner, hut lie was challenged by Civility and Booster. Then Comic Song shot out of the bunch, and, making a fine run. just failed to reach Booster, who Hashed past the post first. Comic Song was second, Civility third, and Centrepiece fourth.
