ORCHESTRAL SOCIETY'S CONCERT
The above society will render the second concert of the fortieth season in His Majesty’s Theatre this evening. The final rehearsal hold on Saturday evening proved a great success, and the conductor is confident that the society will fully maintain its high reputation. The orchestral items have been, well selected, and include the overtures ‘ Egmont ’ (Beethoven), and ‘ lOuryanthe ’ (Weber): ‘ Cassc-Noisctte Suite ’ (Tschaikowsky) ; symphony, ‘ The Surprise’ fHnydn); selection, ‘Cinq Mars’ (Gounod); and the march, ‘Washington Greys.’ The society has been fortunate in securing the services of Miss Ray Stubbs and Mr R. B. Macdonald as vocalists on this occasion. Miss Stubbs will sing tho aria, ‘ Love and Music,’ from ‘ La. Tosca ’ (Puccini), and ‘A Dream Garden’ (Montague Phillips). Mr Macdonald’s items arc ‘The Sword of I‘errata ’ (Field Bullard), and ‘The Great Awakening’ (Kramer). Arrangements have been made for a limited number of 2s tickets to he on sale at tho theatre.
