While calm is reported to prevail in Rumania, a censorship is. operating, arid precautions are still being taken in, Bucharest, where the newspapers hare been warned against the circula- ' lion of false alarmist news. The Bucharest correspondent of the Universal Press says that King Ferdinand’s will is dated July 2, -1925. ■He left £62,500 to _ chanty. Each daughter: gets a palatial estate and a country house, except Queen Marie of Jugo-Slavia, who receives money securities. Queen Mario of Rumania inherits Cotrbrimp Palate and the Palace of Sinaia, In a codicil dated January 1, 1926. King Ferdinand made Prince Michel heir to his remaining fortune. Prince Carol receives only money securities—his legally-entailed portion. The codicil emphasises the fact that Prince Carol’s renunciation of the throne was a severe ordeal to King Ferdinand, Ouecn Marie, and the country, although it was necessary for the sake oi the country and the dynasty.
SORROW-OF A SON. PRINCE CAROL’S MESSAGE. PARIS, July 21. Prince Carol remains at his Paris residence. Replying to journalists desiring ah’interview, ho sent'a message: “My sorrow does not allow mo to be interviewed. BUCHAREST, July 22. (Received July 23, at 10 n.m.) King Ferdinand’s will prays Heaven to “bless our people.” A codicil regrets Prince Carol’s renunciation of the throne, which .necessitated the annulment of bequests to him of castles and real estate, because these were necessary for tho future lying. Prince Carol shares in money and State securities. “ 1 pray God to help my dear son in the life he has chosen despite his parents’ wishes, and grant that his choice may bo happy for himself and for Rumania.” King Ferdinand left a letter for M. Dratiano stating: “God has willed that the Crown shall pass to my grandson, who is yet a child. I call upon the citizens to maintain the progress of the country. I think with fatherly love of my dear son Carol. No doubt he will strive to hold .the kingdom., I charge him to keep his promise not to return without tho Government’s permission.” CAROL’S REQUEST. " PARIS, July 22. (Received July 23, at 10 a.m.) The Rumania Embassy considers that the Government cannot accede to Prince Carol’s request to bo allowed to he present at the funeral.
