TRADES DISPUTES Bill AMENDMENTS IN LORDS. Utess Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, July.2l, Tbe House of Lords, in Committee on the Trades Disputes Bill, agreed to two amendments. The first, moved by the Lord Chancellor (Viscount Cave), deleted the previous definition of intimidation as causing reasonable apprehension of injury to self, dependents, or property, including injury other than physical or material,” and substituting “ injury in respect to business or any other source of income, including any actionable wrong.” The second amendment, moved by Lord Inchcapc, included the definition of a strike as “a refusal to accept employment,” Lord Inchcape poinlnigout that it aimed at seamen refusing new work after being paid off, which was technically not a strike but might be verv serious. Lord Arnold, protested against a form of serfdom, which would compel men to accept work. Lord Reading suggested that before the third reading on July 25 they should consider whether the Bill should »pply only to the shipping industry.
