VICTORIA'S BIG DEFICIT Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright, MELBOURNE, July 21. (Received July 21, at 19.30 a.m.) Replying to a. deputation the Minister of Public Works (Mr G. C. Webber) said the conditions of Victoria’s finances was worse than it had been for twenty-five years. Although it had been announced that the year’s deficit was £ GOO,OOO, it .would bo found when the Budget was submitted to the Assembly that the deficit would be over £1,000,000. The losses on soldier settlements were not taken into account in the first estimate.
