Webber) said the conditions of Victoria’s finances was worse than it had been for twenty-five years. Although it had been announced that the year’s deficit was £ GOO,OOO, it .would bo found when the Budget was submitted to the Assembly that the deficit would be over £1,000,000. The losses on soldier settlements were not taken into account in the first estimate.
