The Chairman (Mr J, Wallace) eai(J the following letter had been forwarded to the department on May 12 by the secretaryl must point out that'the erection* of a new school at Warrington is placed among the urgent works in No. 1 list which the board would like to see started this year, as indicated in its memoranduny on March 24. The fact that the majority of the fifty-seven children on the roll of this school have to walk from the Warring-? ton end of the district along a narrow road frequented by motor traffic _ and crossed at two points by the railway lino is sufficient reason why the matter should not be delayed. It is difficult to fix the relative urgency of the various works, and Warrington may be considered as equally urgent as some five or six of the works immediately preceding it. However, the position where Warrington stands on the list cannot be used ns a, reason for not purchasing the site. .The necessity for proceeding with the purchase of the various sites on the list while they are still available was explained to the Minister during his recent visit. The hoard must press for a grant for the purchase of tho Warrington site, and asks for the reconsideration of this matter.” It was (loridod io send a ropy nr tno householders’ letter to the department asking it to expedite matters.
