SAVED BY LIONESS
CIRCUS PROPRIETOR'S ESCAPE
ATTACKING LION DRIVEN OFF.
Press Association—By Telegraph Oopyiight,
LONDON, January 11. (Received January 12, at 8.55 a.m.) Captain Bostock, of Boston and Wombwell’s circus, was saved from death in Leicester by a lioness springing upon a lion which had attacked him. He entered the cage to attend to a sink cub, when the lion broke through the partition and started mauling, him. The lioness sprang on the lion, and there was a terrific fight, in which the cubs joined with the mother and succeeded in dragging the lion off. Captain Bostock was able to crawl through the door, although badly torn. The fight continued till the animals were separated by the attendants. This is the second time the lioness has saved Captain Bostock.
