A. AND F. SOCIETY

SUMMER STOCK SALES The committee of the Otago A. and P. Society is well gratified with the support received in several sections, but disappointed that the entries are not better right through the schedule. It will be a surprise to many who take a keen interest in agricultural shows to learn that practically /no entries have been received for Romneys and for fat sheep sections. These classes have been fairly well supported in the past years, and it is difficult to give any reason of the apathy of breeders and those interested in fat stock. In many of the classes there will be keen competition, and it will be gratifying to those interested in merinos to learn that they are represented by F. H. Smith, H. Gibson, and R. Jopp. In the Corriedalo sections entries have been received from the New Zealand and Australian Land Company, J. A. Johnstone, Oliver Grey, D. J. Ross, and L. W. Storry, and in Ayrshire cattle by Gillies Bros., Galloway Experimental Farm, Young Bros., and G. Fpx.

In the Jersey section Messrs Hellyer Bros., S. Dale, and D. Wright are the principal exhibitors.

In the Clydesdale horse section entries have been received from Kakanui, Outram, Wairongoa. Bushey Park, Shands, Henley, and Allanton, and in the working section there are a fair number of competitors. Harness, hackneys, and cobs will make a very fair show, and those interested in hunting and leaping competitions will have an opportunity of some interesting events. This section is represented by Miss I. Rutherford, D. Mowat, Greenslade, and M. Statham, Mesdames M‘Kay and Conn, and Messrs A. Speight, M. Shine, E. Docherty, G. Roberts, and D. and A. Gillanders. The following are the particulars of the stock entries received as compared with 1925. They show a considerable decrease in sheep, otherwise the entries are about the same as last year:— Horses 160 180 Sheep 258 202 Cattle ... ... 161 152 Pigs ... _ 6 20 , Competitions ... 46 52
