p, Sir Charles Statham left to-day by the 11.30 train for Wellington. Mr Gipsy Smith, accompanied by Mr and Mrs E. Young, travelled _ from Dunedin to Christchurch, by train today. Mr B. J. Tuckwcll, now of Wellington, started for his headquarters this morning by train. ■ Mr (3. Speight was a passenger for Wellington by the 11.30 train to-day. Dr T. M'Kibbin left for Christchurch this morning, and will next visit Wellington. Mr J. L. Salmond is called to Wellington on business, and left by the All Red train this morning. Messrs W. E. Reynolds and W. Bryant left for Wellington this morning on Dairy Control Board business. According to a Press Association message from Hamilton, tho consecration of Archdeacon Cherrington as Bishop of Waikato is definitely fixed for December 12.

Staying at tho Grand Hotel are Major W. E. Curry, Mr G.' Scott, Mrs F. Chappie, and Miss King (London), Mr A. F. Myall (Auckland), Dr A. Jewett (Wellington), Mr C. W. White (Christchurch), and Mr T. Flemming (Timaru). Among those at the Excelsior Hotel are Professor Webb and Mr J. B. Halo (Christchurch). .Mr C. Grey (Milton). and Mr and Mrs Jones (Invercargill). Recent arrivals at the City Hotel include Captain A- Carson (Gisborne), Messrs W. E. Allen and D. Robertson (Wellington), Mr F. Kent (Christchurch), Mr and Mrs Timpenny, Alisscs B. Gardner and C. Brewer, Mr and Mrs A. 11. Fitzgerald, Messrs J. Kilkeliy and J, Barty (Invercargill), Mr and Mrs W. A. Scaife (Glcndhu). At last night’s annual meeting of tho Southern Starr-Bowkctt Society several of the members congratulated Mr S. S. Myers on his thirty years’ service as chairman of directors. The secretary mentioned that it was pleasing to note that of tho board of directors ■which had been appointed at the first meeting of the society in September, 189 G, there were still three on the present board—Mr Myers. Mr J. H. Hancock, and Mr C. Speight. Mr Macnndrow bad been a director for twenty-nine years.
