AMERICAN HYSTERIA
QUEEN MARIE'S VISIT GREAT INTEREST IN ROYALTIES “HIGH ROAD TO MONARCHY.” Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright - LONDON, October 20. (Received October 21, at 9.40 a.m.) Mr Foster Fraser, writing in the ‘ Evening Standard,’ commenting on American hysteria over Queen Marie’s visit, concerning which the English newspapers contain amusing details, asks: “ Has it ever struck the slowmoving English that we do not really show the interest in our Royalties that we should? Far more appears in American newspapers about the King and Queen of England than the English papers ever knew. lam a most dutiful subject, but I confess that I am ignorant of what is the King’s favorite color in pyjamas. All Americans know it. It is the kind of thing they like to know.* As Europe becomes more democratic America becomes buoyantly Imperialistic. America is on the high road to a radiant monarchy, sparing no expense in order that the effete of the Courts of Europe will not look worth 30 cent:.”
