A WONDERFUL MEMORY
POLISH STUDENT'S FEATS. BRAIN PHOTOGRAPHY. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, January 28. (Received January 29, at 9.15 a.m.) Professor Spearman, of the London Iniversify, is investigating an astonishing case of a vouth’s memorising powers. Lipowsky, a Polish student at the Darmstadt Polytechnic (Germany), discovered, during a' post-graduate course, that he was able to retain mental images with great readiness. The Darmstadt- professors suggested that he should train his memory. Ho has since been accumulating a vast stove of information. l!o can remember any fiate once. read. Lipowsky spent two days memorising 2,000 English words, and will be able to road a newspaper in eight days. He can look for a moment at a long list of figures, and then repeat them backwards or forwards, starting from any point. Lipowsky says that everything he remembers is photographed on his brain, but that alcohol has a disastrous effect. Two small glasses of whisky take away the power.—A. and N.Z. Cable.
