MARITIME STRIKE

The sea transport group of unions are preparing for a fight to a finish in a. final effort to abolish the Shipping Labor Bureau. The Waterside Federation is prepared for tho deregistration of the unions _as a result of its present tactics in ignoring Mr Justice Powers’s direction to return to work, stating that the Arbitration Court is hampering rather than helping them. WATERSIDERS’ DECISION. COURT TO BE DEFIED. MELBOURNE, December 9. (Received December 10, at 1.20 a.m.) The Watorsidcrs' Federation has decided to defy the court and to continue the strike until the Shipping Labor Bureau is abolished. It is stated that the executive is indifferent to tho threat of dc-j registration, as it is actually considering applying for deregistration. FREMANTLE STRIKERS, ANXIOUS FOR SETTLEMENT. PERTH, December 9. (Received December 10, at 1.20 a.m.) A mass meeting of strikers at Fremantle adopted a resolution stating that the Seamen’s Union should communicate with Mr A M’Callum (Minister of Labor) immediately, in order to bring about a settlement of the dispute. The steamer Benalla, which has been' delayed for a fortnight, ha-s sailed. Her apprentices were compelled to cast off this lines.
