(Received December 8, at 9.30 a.m.) A telegram from Los Angeles says trial Gene Stratton Porter, the authoress, died as the result of an accident, through her automobile striking a street car.—Router. [Mrs Gene Stratton Porter was born in 1868 on a farm in Wabash County, Indiana. She was the daughter of Mark and Alary Stratton, and in JBBS she was married to Charles Darwin Porter. Sho was a specialist in natural history photography. Her novels have had a.great sale in America, Great Britain, and the dominions. ‘ The Harvester,’ published in 1911, ‘Freckles,’ and ‘The Girl of the Limberlost ’ are probably her most popular books.
