The return of Padoul and the Communist demonstration in honor of • Krassin have intensified the agitation in the Prc*s and Parliament against tho 'alleged growth of Communist activities. There°has been a remarkable manifestation of this in the Breton fishing nort of Dournenez, where a strike of fish dinners was made the occasion of Cmn munist demonstrations, in one of which the mayor, M. Leflanche, took cart, wear_ ing a tricolor scarf. In consequence or this action the Prefect of Finisterro took over tho administration of the town and Leflanche was suspended, and will be charged in court with inciting a rebe.M. Krassin has declared that ho had no intention of interfering with France’s internal affairs, but oven ‘ Ere Nouvelle 1 (the loading Government organ) is not prepared to take him at his word, and warns him that he will bo judged by his acts. If tho Bolshevists, it says, take advantage of diplomatic immunity in order to pursue their propaganda in France, either directly or indirectly, M. The ‘ Echo Du Nord ’ declares that the different Communist “ cells ” have already received complete indications of _ the _measures to be taken for a Communist rising. For example, tho first step at Tourcoing will be the occupation of the Town Hall at midnight by armed bands, after which the Communists will endeavor to win ever tho crowd by announcing that henceforth meat will cost 50 per cent, less than it does at present, and that all the bakers’ shops will he taken over by the Communists.—Reuter. A POLICE RAID. MANV ARRESTS. PARIS, December 7. (Received December 8, at 8,40 a.m.) Eight hundred polio railed the Com. munist quarters at Bobigny (a suburb of Paris), paying special attention to tho Leninist School, where it is alleged that seditions instruction is given, hour hundred arrests were made, seventy persons ultimately being detained, including a Communist ex-deputy. It is stated that documents were found revealing a plot to effect a Communist coup in Paris very shortly. The police intend to raid other suburbs and search fc stores of hidden rifles.—A. and N.Z.
