MINING ACCIDENT
EXPLOSION IN WELSH COLLIERY. SERIOUS LOSS OF LIFE. Frees Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. LONDON, December 5. Nine were killed and a number are missing, as the result of an explosion in Llay Main colliery,, Wrexham. The explosion occurred at 1.30 n.m., when the icpair shift of 300 men were in the pit, otherwise the disaster would have been appalling. Eight bodies have been recovered. Apparently death was instantaneous. So limited we-e the effects that most of the men engaged in tho pit continued working for an hour before learning of the disaster. This is the first disaster in the North Wales coalfield for forty years. —Reuter. ’
