Robert Grant, one of the immigrants injured at the Haloombe railway station yesterday as the result, of the tablet apparatus striking him, died after an operation in the Palmerston North Hospital, never having recovered consciousness. Apparently he was a single man with no known relatives in the dominion. It was onlv his fourth day in the country. A manned man, 33 years of age, named Robert Alexander Steele, committed suicide in the Napier Hospital last night by cutting his throat. He was undergoing treatment for nervous debility. He left a note saying: '‘l have a terrible headache, and I am frightened of it."
