Speaking in the House of Commons on tho Ministry of Agriculture’s Estimates, Sir Robert Saunders (Minister of Agriculture) said that tho operations iu connection with tho breeding of racehorses formed one of tho most successful instances of State trading concerns. Since the presentation of tho National Stud to the nation tiro not _ profit amounted to £28,000. Tho Ministry last year headed Ice list of winning breeders. Twenty-five horses won fortytwo races valued at £82,200, including the Roger, the Irish Roger, the Liverpool Cup, the Derby Cup, and the Prince of Wales Stakes; and it had made a good beginning this year, winning the Lincoln Handicap.—A. and N.Z.
