KAIKORAI PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
CHOIR CONCERT. The Kaikorai Presbyterian Church was more than filled last evening, when tho united choirs of Port Chalmers and Kaikorai Presbyterian Churches presented the sacred cantata ‘David.’ Some seventy singers gave a very good rendering of the cantata, the work of tho soltoists being particularly good. The accompanists were -Miss Alice George (piano) and Air Jas. Clark (organ), their assistance being very acceptable to the soloists and choir. Misses Betty Baird (as Abigail), Kitty APCallum (Michal), and Pkyllis Hanna were the lady singers. It is not saying too much when it is stated that their voices exactly suited the class of music they were asked to sing. A fine array of male soloists appeared. Alessrs Jas. Paterson (Saul), S. Lawn (Jesse), Arch. Jones (Jonathan), W. Russell (David), and Taylor gave particular pleasure to the large audience. The people would have liked some of their parts repeated, time alone preventing this. The quartets and duets incidental to the work were given by the gentlemen, concerned with excellent taste. The Rev. W. R. Hutchison (who presided), and Alessrs Wilson and Todd spoke in appreciation of tho work of the soloists and choir. The .can-tata-will be repeated at Port Chalmers next- Thursday.
