ANNUAL MEETING. .’Tho annual meeting of members of the Oavershara Presbyterian Church was held in tlx© church hall on- Wednesday evening, the Rev. F. M. Beattie presiding over a large attendance of members. The reports of the church organisations were adopted, also the treasurer’s statement of receipts and expenditure. Several of tho speakers boro testimony to tho effective work that was being done by tho minister, the Rev. F. M. Beattie, Mrs Beattie, and by the largo, number of other workers. ... . Fraser, Moodio, Cranston, and Anderson The following resolution was unanimously agreed to;—“That tho congregation empowers tho managers to go, on with the work of renovating the church, and that the matter of raising the extra money required bo left in the hand's or the Management Committee.” Several part songs were rendered: bv the choir, and! the ladies handed round refreshments before tho gathering dispersed. The report stated that there had been a steady increase of membership. The chief sources of revenue showed a substantial increase over tho previous year. Ordinary collections amounted to £298 3s 6d, as against £252 10s lid last year. The amount contributed through the envelopes totalled £248 2s sd, an increase of £65 19s 6d. The reseating fund now amounts to £409 19s sd. This, together with the Presbytery grant of £350, makes a total of £759 19s sd. Tho Ladies’ Guild has swelled tho fund to the extent of £l2O. The choir also has done remarkably well, the “Paddy’s Market” effort being a great success. The work is expected to be commenced during tho summer months, when it is hoped also to install an up-to-date heating system in the church. The many classes and guilds inseparable from the work of the church were also reported on.
