LESLIE C. REYNOLDS’S DANCE RECITAL
The dance recital which will be given; by Mr Leslie Reynolds on Tuesday ' next should be well attended. The dances to be given by him will illustrate those of all ages, from Grecian to the present-day ragtime. The ‘ Meditation,’ by Tliias Massenet, and ‘ Etude ’ (Chopin), are classic dances, based on the poses shown in tho sculpture and friezes of ancient Greece. ‘Lotus Land,’ by Cyril Scott, is a dance poem of tho Neo Classic, Russian School. While in the Amy Mr Reynolds did a great deal of concert party work for the entertainment of the soldiers, and on several occasions gave imitations of the various famous women dancers. He wishes to have it understood that the Chopin nocturne and the ’ Mignon ’ gavotte are the only two items touching on female impersonations. His dance * Persicnnc,’ by Rimsky Korsakoff, and a Brahms valse, Hindoo-Snake, are neo-classic dances. Mrs Bligh’s pupils are providing a Grecian ballet, • ‘Autumn Leaves, and a duo, ‘ Harlequin and Columbine.’ Mrs Wyatt is allowing Miss Lily Stevens to give two dances, _ a “Russian” and a “toe dance.” Miss Netta Keates is opening the programme with a too ballet entitled ‘ Lo Revelle des Papillions,’ which was awarded first place in tho Dunedin Competitions. Her pupils are also giving a duo entitled ‘ The Spider and the Butterfly.’ Mr Leech has kindly consented to sing, and his items are always appreciated. Lastly, Mrs Bligh and Sir A. G. Nisbet will give an exhibition of modern ballroom dancing which will prove equally interesting to dancers and nondancers.
