North Island papers have been saying that Sir Joseph Ward has purchased a house in Auckland, mid intends residing there (wires onr Christchurch correspondent). Sir Joseph Ward emphatically denies the report. Ho says ho has not purchased any house in Auckland, cmd has no intention of doing so.

Mr W. W. Bridgman, Green Inland, has received intimation that he has passed the B.A. degree. Private advice has boon received that tho Rev. F. H. and Mrs Wilson. Beasley, from Ohakune. Cautain Coll Macdonald and Mr J. Smith, cf the Union Company, left Dunedin for Wellington to-dav. Mr John Stone travelled to-day to Christchurch. Mr W. 1 M. Luke, the Christchurch representative of (he Canadian Government Mercantile Marine, to-day brought his visit to Dunedin to an end. Mr Eobt. Lee (Ka.itangata Coal Company) started to-day for Wellington on business.
