Length and ahalf j four lengths, Time, 2mm SSgsec. MAORI HILL FOOTBALL CLUB. The annual meeting of the Maori Hill Football Club, held last night, was presided over by Mr C. Beeby, sen, (president). There was a largo attendance. The Chairman, in moving the adoption of the annual report and. balance-sheet, expressed his great pleasure at seeing such a large attendance (included as it-did a member of the 0.F.A.), which, he thought, augured well for the incoming season. Lie congratulated members on the very successful outcome of last season’s efforts. Tho club had placed, for the first time in its history, four teams in the field. Tho first eleven had proved a formidable proposition for all their opponents, while the fifth grade team had succeeded in reaching the topmost position in its grade. Ho was also pleased to record a credit balance on the financial side, and stated that the generosity of the residents of the district had enabled the committee to at once go on with the renovation of the pavilion, a much-needed work.—The motion was carried. "

The first round of the Thomson Fours of the Otago Rowing Club was held- last night under ideal conditions. The results are as follow :—J. A. Walsh (stroke), T\l. O’Sullivan, D. Keyes. A. ,1. Traynor beat J. W. Sineaton (stroke), C. R. Gatlin, H. K. Lyon, H. Trotter by two- lengths; R, Dickson (stroke), A. Massey. L. Toomey, T. Wheelwright beat E. V. Fairbairn (stroke), W. Moloney, iS. L. Carey, ,T. C. Maclcy by \ie length and a-half. Tire final race bot’.vVm Walsh and Dickson will be rowed to-morrow night. SCHOOLS SWIMMING CHAMPIONSHIP. Arrangements have now been completed for the Otago and Southland schools’ swimming championships to be held: at the Municipal Baths on Saturday evening next. Excellent accommodation is being erected to seat approximately 1,000 spectators. Additional entries have been received, and the total now stands at 165. Parents of competitors would be well adsvised to attend to see the improvements made in the children’s swimming. Besides races for each standard, the programme includes diving competitions for both boys and girls and two secondary school races.
