In the Magistrate’s Court at Wanganui last week a pa.rcnt took exception to Mr Skinner, Truant Officer, questioning his boys at the school, and said that the officer had no right to go "behind the parents’ backs. Mr Skinner replied that he desired to get the facts of the case before prosecuting, and if there was anything in tho parents’ favor he always took that into consideration. “ I can generally ■ rely on getting the truth from the children,” added the officer. Tho magistrate told tho parent that the officer had a perfect right to ask tho children questions as to why they wore not attending school. Eighteenpence for 60 closes!
