THE M'GORMAN TRAGEDY
STORY PIECED TOGETHER. [Per United Press Association.] WANGANUI, October IT A colonial inquiry was hold to-day in connection with the tragedy at Nukuma.ru, No fresh light was thrown on the matter, and the coroner found that Bertha M'Gorman was murdered by her husband and the latter committed suicide. M’Gorman, with his family, lived nt an old accommodation house at the corner where the Nukumaxu station stands, and the road branches off the main road. Tiro tragedy was enacted about a quarter of a mile along the main road, dose to the seventeen mils post. Evidently Mrs M’Gorman had straggled for her '.life, there being a cut on one hand where she gripped the razor blade. After killing Ins wife, M'Gorman dragged the body into the water table, then walked across the road, sat down, and cut his own throat. Afterwards he climbed a stout seven-wire fence and walked a hundred yards down a paddock, where ho was found in the morning in a dying state. M’Gornmn was reputedly a wealthy man, owning several farms. Airs M’Gorman was a woman of kindly nature who was held in the greatest esteem. The evidence showed that M’Gorman bad been queer lately, but on the Lest of terms with his wife.
