I Thera wc« a largo gathering, under the Rev. 11. E. Evans, at the North-east Valley Presbyterian Church last evening, when Messrs‘o. W. Watt, E. J. Orange, E. J. Dabournc, and G. I'. Fox, the 'students who have completed their college couree, were declared licensed to preach the Gospel, and to be entitled la the privileges of probationers. The preacher Was the Rev. Mr Evans, who gave a brief add rets on the practical work of the ministry. The object of the ministry, he said, was tlie salvation of men. They would need to guard against the temptation that name to the preacher of trying to please tho congregation, for if it overcame them they would please men at tho expense of tW eternal message with which they were entrusted by God.
