AUSTRIA & HUNGARY
A STATE OP TENSION. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. BERLIN, September 12. (Received September 14, at 1.15 a.m.) Poreign Office telegrams show that the attitude of the Hungarian Government regarding the Burgenland dispute is very unsatisfactory. Hungary replied to the allied Note suggesting that tiro work of restoring order shall bo entrusted to Hungarian troops. This is regarded as irrelevant and as an abandonment of the previous disavowal of responsibility for the action of the irregular bands. The Austrians have withdrawn from their zone. Meanwhile a state of alarm prevails on the frontier, and the cattle are being driven inland. It is felt in London that it will ha necessary to employ coercive measures to compel the fulfilment of Hungary’s obligations.—Reuter.
