WAIKAREMOANA POWER. [Fbosi Our Paelumectabt Reporter.] WELLINGTON, October 13. t The Minister of Works stated to-day that the Government have, undertaken ' commitments totalling £43,610 for development for Waikaremoana water power, com- ] prising generating machinery which had 1 been ordered costing £13,120, switch wear ' £4,290, pipe lines £14,000, transformers , £2.200, land £2,800, and roads and bridges ' £62,000. Tenders were under considera- ’ tion for generators and switch gear, and > a recommendation would be probably made , forthwith. Negotiations had been completed for the purchase of land. Plans and specifications were complete, and tenders would be called for preliminary ope- ; rations which were well under way. A contract for machinery costing £l3 120 ' , becn ]et - and would be available, proi bably sooner than the roads were readv though he hoped this would be done during the summer. The Wniroa County Council were prepared to secure contracts • tor roadmaking. • * * * ! PUBLIC WORKS STATEMENT. Coates) replied ,that the Statement would be readv for presentation by the end of next week perhaps on next Friday.
