TENDERS TO BE DELAYED. Tii© Finance Committee of the Oily Council report having given further consideration to tho cpiertiin of tho erect-ion of tho proposed Town Hah, more particularly in regcrd to the finding of funds to v'over tho cost of thu bunding. A repcrt from tho Town Clerk sets out a method whereby the financing of tho proposal may bo arranged internally, and tho rovnmittae are of tho opinion that tho Town Clerk's suggestions &Te the b«st that can ba devised t-o meet tho position, firicfiy, they arc that certain deductions be made over a period of years from tho anrmtd contributions of the trading departments to the Tenewal fund account, end that i'uoh deductions be diverted for tho purpose of covering the cost of the Town Hall. Ths committee are of the opinion that the Town Clerk's proposals aKould no-w be approved; and while it is recognised that the building is urgently reanired, it is suggested that the calling of tenders for tho work be delayed for a period of nine months, when it'.is possible that industrial conditions may have improved.
