CITY POLICE COURT. (Before H. Y. Widdowson, Esq., S.M) Charges of Theft.—Christina Lauther Fulton Watt was charged with stealing one bangle, one comb, one pair of eloves, and three pairs of stockings, valued at £lO 10s, the property of Martha Jane Throp. She pleaded guilty.—The Chief Detective snid that accused was in service in Roslyn for about 10 months. After leaving her employment the articles mentioned were missed. They were later found in her oossession. She had previously been in a home. This was her first offence.—Accused was admitted to probation for a term of two years. George Alexander Low, aged 16£ years, was charged with stealing 3d. the property of David Alexander M'fcay. and ls, the property of •William David Healy. Ke was also charged with stealing a gun-metal watch valued at 15s and 3s in money, the property of Lester William Simpson, and. further, with_ stealing a pocket book valued at 30s and 30s in mpney, the property of Gordon Stuart M'Donald. The lad pleaded guilty to all tha charges.—The Chief Detective said that the thefts were, committed at the Public Baths. A number of petty thefts had been reported, and a watch was kept, with the result that the boy was caught stealing from pookots. He had a bad record, having previously been before the Court. He had been in an industrial school.—His Worship said he could not understand tho Industrial School authorities discharging a boy with such a record. The old practice was to keep lads in the school until they reached the age of 21; but the practice now seemed to be to discharge them when quite young. On the major charge His Worship said that accused was sentenced to one monith's imprisonment, with a recommendation to the GovernorGeneral to < ha\-e him committed to the Wercroa Training Farm. He would also request that he be kept there for a period of two years. On the' other two charges he would be convicted and discharged. Victor Eoyden Ourline, aged 17 years, was charged with stealing a motor cycle,, valued at £135, the property of Stuart Cameron, and also with committing mischief by damaging a motor oyclo to the extent of £1 Is, the property of .the same person.—The Senior Sergeant, in asking for a remand until Monday, said that the lad was alredy under the nare of the juvenile probation officer.— Remanded accordingly.
