DUNEDIN GUN CLUB

* The Dunedin Gun Club held their annual Christmas shoot at Tahuna Park on Saturday afternoon under very enjoyable conditions. The prize-list was a long and varied one, and, owing to the excellent programing and arrangements, very few shooters were disappointed in obtaining some succulent dainty for Christmas. A large number of competitors faced the trap, and, inspired by the prospect of winning a goose or a ham, did some very good shooting. The first match was one of 12 birds, and three shooters obtained the possible, these being A. Turner, A. Cowie, and D. Whalen ; and four others tied for fourth place. In the shoot-off D. Whelan was first, A. Turner second, A. Cowie third, and A. Simpson fourth. Winners in this and subsequent shoots were penalised to the extent of 4yds, and this gave the competitors in the match of eight birds their opportunity. G. Porter obtained eight kills, and was declared winner, closeK- followed by A. Turner and G. Wall as second and third respectively. The third match of eight birds wns won by G. Turner with the maximum, R. Vinnicombe being second with sevei kills and H. King third with six. A consolation match followed, in which six competitors took part, but by this time the light was failing. However, a very snccessnil day was brought to a close by A. J. White taking first, J. Hungerford second, and J. Richards third, with 5, 4, 4, birds respectively. The following are the detailed scores: No. 1 Match (12-bird handicap).—D. Whalen 12, A. X. Turner 12, A. Cowie 12, R.
