GIRLS' FRIENDLY SOCIETY

A very pleasant function took place on Saturday afternoon, when tho associates, members, and candidates of [the Girls' Friendly Society met at Bishopsgrove, at the invitation of the Primate and Mrs Novill, for the garden party given annually to the society. Before proceeding to Bishopsgrove a short service was held at Holy Innooents' Church. The service was taken by the Most Rev. the Primate, who gave an interesting address on " Friendship." The church wns well filled, and the offertory, which on these occasions is given by the society for some purpose in connection with the Church of the Holy Innocents, was a helpful addition, and those present wero glad to know they had again been able to help in this direction. After the service the guests wero entertained at afternoon tea, after which all assembled in the drawing-room to witness a presentation to Mrs Nevill on her approaohing retirement as president of the society. A silver manicure sot was then presented by *the diocesan secretary, who expressed her pleasure at making tho presentation. Airs Fulton, on behalf of the society, thanked Mrs Novill for the many kindnesses shown in the past, and her ever-ready interest in their fcims and work, voicing the sentiments of those present when she expressed the opinion that the memory of the pleasant days spent at Bishopsgrove would always be a happy recollection in days to come.
