DUNEDIN PHILHARMONIC SOCIETY
Tho Philharmonic Society's concert next Tuesday promises to be one with several outGtandiiiflr features 1 . Tho 'Pianoforte Concerto in B Flat,' by Tichaikowsky, is a big item in itself, and "calls for a master's interpretation. In Mr Mas Scberek'a capable hands something of exceptional merit may be looked for, and "tho orchestra have given their portion verv careful study. The big chords in the opening give the pianist an opportunity to show hi=> powers of strength, and manipulation, and yet in other parts th© most delicate treatment is required. There is plenty of variety in Hie first movement, which is being played, and the ful! orchestra is employed at "times. With such other items on tho programme as tho 'William Tell' overture, tho Prelude and Sicilian a from ' Gavallcria,' and the Barno of tho Hours from 'Gioconda,' the concert should prove ofmoro than ordinary interest. Scats may bo reserved at The Bristol without any booking fee by subscribers, and with the show visitors in town the society have made eeating accommodation for a very much larger number than usual who may bo expected to avail themselves of tho opportunity of hearing' a Philharmonic concert. For this reason tickets will bo on ealo at The Bristol and His Majesty's, as will bo seen by our advertising columns.
