POULTRY CONFERENCE

[Fee United Press Association.]

CHRISTCHURCH, March 13,

At the Poultry Conference the President, in his address, said he regretted the unrestricted importation of Asiatic egg matter, which largely aggravated the ditllculties under which the industry was laboring. These importations wore a curse to the country, and must be stopped. I'e warned the public that the price of fresh eggs this winter would probably be abnormally high. Ho referred to the work of the ‘association in promoting _ the egg circle movements, securing additional instructors, the stamping of imported; eggs, and the fixing of prices of bran and pollard. The work before the association in the near future was of a most vital character, one of the problems being the settling of returned soldiers, in which the industry must play its part. The keystone to success in future was the sole right to New Zealand markets. Australia had absolutely dossed her markets against the importations of egg matter in any form, and New- Zealand must be protected from being the dumping-ground.
