OBITUARY

The death occurred at her residence, Hosebank, Balriutha, on Sunday night of Mrs Margaret M'Lean, an old identity of the Clutha. district. The deceased lady, who was 82 years of age, wa-s born rn Nairn, Scotland, and married Mr Win. M'Lean. of that place. About 50 > years ago tho couple (reports the ‘Leader’) emigrated to New Zealand, landing at Pert Chalmers from the ship oUam Cloud. They walked- to Inchclutha, where the late Mr M'Luan was employed fay the kto fair E. Bowler for right yeans. They next bought a farm at Ahuriri Flat, and had resided there bill Mr M’Lean’s death, 19 years ago. The late Mrs M'Leroi con* tinned to carry on, the form, which was worked by the family till their removal to Baldutlia about live years ago. _ Eight cliildrea were born, and of these sax ere still alive.

Miller, a member of tho Clutha Counly Ooupucil. Mr Milkx- was bom in Caithness, Scotland, and came to Otago in 1880, 38 years ago, and began work nt Shag Valley for 51 r W. F. Craig, non- of Dunedin, From there he went to Ashiny Downs-, Waivicra district, to work for Mr Gibson. Thirty-three years ago l;e purchased 200 acres of the Ashley Downs estate , and a few Tears later ho purchased 4SO acres of the Clydevalo estate adjoining his first hol-diny. and the com bared areas avoorc very successfully foamed by him, and a large family reared thereon. Mr Miller leaves a widow and 11 Kurvmng meinhi-s of his family to mourn their low. Of the six boys two (William and Hugh) arc now with lio N.Z.E.F. in Franco. The death occurred at Duuodin yesterday of Mrs David Kirbv. wife of the editor of the ‘ Clutha Leader.’ The deceased ladv was the eldest d-au,Miter of Mr Ohaa. Anderson, of Tuapoka Mouth.
