UKRAINE'S SEPARATE PEACE
BRING DOUBLE TROUBLE 'ROM BOLSHEVIKS AND POLES. .AMSTERDAM, February 18. (Received February 19, at 9.50 a.m.) The newspaper 'Germania' asserts that the Bolsheviks are burning stocks of grain in the Ukraine, as far as possible. A German semi-official statement declares that the Ukraine delegation to Brest-Litovsk requested the German Government to make the following announcement to the German people :—" Tho Maximalists have undertaken a holy war against the Ukrainian Socialists. This barbarian invasion 1 seeks to destroy our independence. We are concentrating new forces in order>to oppose the northern hordes, find we look for help to the German army in our struggle for existence by protecting our northern frontier. We know that our voice will be heard."
