OLD BOYS' SOCIETY

A meeting of the executive of the High School Old Boys' Society was held ill the secretary's board room last night, when there were present Dr Fulton (chair), Messrs D. J. Galder, J. J. Mallard, W. J. Guthrie, F. H. Campbell, W. J. Morrell, H. Webb, and A. Johnston. Mr J. J. Mallard reported on behalf of the sub-committee that all arrangements for billeting the Christchurch High School, Timaru. High School, and Southland High School Boys were now complete, and reported that the following programme had been arranged for entertaining the boys during their stay in Dunedin:—Friday, August 25: Boys arrive by, the first express from the north and tho second express from the south, and will be met by their hosts and taken to their hosts' homes. Saturday, .August 26: Two football matches will be played at Carisbrook. Sunday morning, August 27: The bovs will attend service at Knox Church. Monday, Au|ust 2S, The boys will be taken a tram ride round the various routes, and will, have afternoon tea at the Bungalow Tea »Rooms, St. Kilda; and in the morning an official visit will be paid to the Ota-go Boys' 'High School, where the visitors will be welcomed by the rector and shown round the school. Tuesday morning will be spent in football practice, and in the aftarnoon. tho boys will be taken down the harbor by members of the Otago Yacht and Motor Boat Club. On Wednesday afternoon the two final matches of the tournament will .be plaved at Carisbrook. The boys will be entertained by the Old Boys' Society in the Art Gallery with a dinner np to 8 p.m., and will then be the guests of jbhe boxing association. On Thursday the visiting boys will return- to their homes. Prior to the business of the meeting the following resolution was passed in connection with the death of Lieutenant J. N. Ritchie —" That the committee of the Otago High. School Old Boys' Society record with deep sorrow the death (the first of their number) of John Neville Ritchie, reported killed in action in Mesopotamia on April 22, 1916. His loss will long bo felt by the whole community." The secretary was instructed to convoy a copy of the resolution to Mrs Ritchie and the deceased's mother.
