FOOTBALL

O.F.A. Mr A. M'Hutchon presided over the weekly _ meeting of the Otago Football Executive CCmmiitee held last evening. The receipt of congratulatory telegrams from tho New Zealand Football Association and tho Canterbury Football Association was reported in connection with tho acceptance of the association's B tender of £265 per annum for the lease of the Caledonian Ground for tho football seasons of 1914 and 1915. —The Caledonian Ground.—

The Chairman stated that the sub-com-mittee (Mr J. C. Cameron, Mr D. Anderson, and himself) had gone carefully into the matter of the lease. No doubt careful consideration would be required in dealing with the ground. 'The association had looked forward to the day when the game would be played on the Caledonian Ground. The only regret was that they were supplanting the Otago Rugby Football Union. However, that was the fortune of tenders. He would like to say that the Rugby Union had always treated the association with a generous hand. (Hear, hear.) That body had been exceedingly kind in past seasons to the association whenever the latter Had desired the use of the Caledonian Ground, and he was sure he was voicing the feeling of members when ho said that if ever the Rugby Union desired the use of the ground the association would he only too glad to reciprocate. He urged upon delegates the importance of impression upon clubs the necessity of putting their best efforts forward to demonstrate the attractiveness of the game when played upon a first class ground with proper accommodation.—On the motion of Mr Wilson, seconded by Mr Cocking, it was resolved—“ That the executive express their appreciation of the successful efforts of the sub-committee.”

—Reported Players.— In connection with the reporting of J. Harrison for tripping Booker and T. Booker for attempting to kick Harrison in the Charity Banner final, the referee appeared and stated that Harrisonls was a deliberate trip after the ball had passed. Booker’s attempt to kick was only halfhearted. If Booker had kicked Harrison he would have ordered Booker off thb field. —Harrison _ and Booker did not appear. Mr Haig explained that Booker had asked him to apologise for his absence, due to another engagement, Harrison had also informed him that he might not be able to attend, but would endeavor to be present.—Tlje Chairman expressed tho view that players reported for offences should make it their business to attend wdien requested.—Mr Cameron moved that both players be disqualified until they appeared before the executive.—To this Mr Haig proposed an anmendment to tho effect that the names of the players be placed on the list of cautioned players.— The motion was carried by 6 votes to 3. —General.— Attention was called to tho fact that the proposed team had not made the trip to Kaitangata on Saturday. It was stated that a number of players w r ere willing to go next Saturday, and it was anticipated that a team would be sent. Mr Cocking reported that he had represented the association at the Green Island Club’s social, and had presented the trophies won by the club. He reported that the club were in a healthy condition, and proposed to enter senior grade next year. The watchmakers and jewellers football match will be played at Bathgate Park to-morrow.
