FIRES
[Pee Uxited Pjiess Association.] NEW PLYMOUTH, December 7. A fire occurred at the Fitzroy bacon factory at 6.30 this morninc. The main building was gutted, but the brigade saved the smoke room. The machinery is vndamaged. Insurances ; Building, £3OO in the Commercial Union and £BSO in the Guardian. Machinery. £IOO in the Commercial Union and £l5O in the Guardian. The damage to the building will probably exceed the insurance. The outbreak i.s a mystery. The factory was recently taken over from the company by Mr Ingley. NT.LSON. December 7. At Ihrec. o'clock litis morning a sevenroomed hou.se. in Alton street, near the Central School, was matted Ly fire. Jt was owned by Mr J. Bennett, 'of Murchisou, and occupied by Mr Arthur Austin, tobacconist. The outbreak started in a. back room. The caiif.o. of the fire it? not. known. Onlv two bicycles, a .sewing machine, and odd's and ends were saved, fns-arajx-e.s : £250 on the house in the South British, £195 in the Norwich Union and £2O in the Roval on the fa;-r:ilure.
