Ralph Johnstone established a world’s altitude record, beating Wynn Allen Holland, who held tho previous world's record. Grahame White challenged Moissant, the Chicago aeroplanist, who on Sunday won £2,000 for rounding the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor, but ho refused. White’s propeller snapped at the close of the speed race, and his monoplane turned over. He was taker, out uninjured, and declared the winner. Mr Drexel, the Pittsburg millionaire, who won the speed contest, has issued a protest against ilio Aero Club’s railing prohibiting Moissant and Grahams White from having, a second trial flight round tho Statue of Liberty. H© declares that ho is disgusted with American sportsmanship, and asserts that the Committee went back on their word in order to give the prize to an American.
