• FAREWELL SOCIAL. A number of the residents of ..West Harbor met in tho Council Chambers, Ravensbourne, last evening for the purpose of saying good-bye to Air F. E. Hunt, station-master, who is being transferred to a similar position at Dunsandel, Canterbury. The Mayor (Air H. E. All the people in the district were sorry to lose Air Hunt, and he could understand this quite well, ns Mr Hunt had been most attentive to his duty as station-master; but at the same time ho was invariably courteous, and did many a kindness without making any fuss about it. Mr Crawley endorsed all that had been said by the mayor, and said lie know how difficult it was to carry out the duties of station-master faithfully and keep on good terms with the public, but this Mr Hunt had done. Messrs Dewar, J. B. Grant, E. Kollett, J. Bain, J. Windns, P. Drury, and W. Blackie also boro testimony to Air Hunt’s worth as a station-master and a man.

The Mayor then said he had much pleasure in presenting Mr Hunt with a purse of sovereigns from the residents of Ravcusbounio as a token of their appreciation of the courtesy and kindness extended to them by him during his stay in Ravensbourne. ' He hoped Mr Hunt would find the change beneficial to his family and advantageous to his advancement in the service, and wished him long life and prosperity. Mr Hunt, in a brief speech, expressed his sincere thanks- for the gift and the kind remarks made by tho various speakers.
